VIDEO: Sean Bielat Election Eve Rally

November 1, 2010 - On the eve of election day 2010, Sean Bielat and 100_2526-1_copyother local politicians celebrated the end of months of campaigning with a rally in Tauton, Massachusetts.  Former governor and presidential candidate Mitt Romney weighed on the importance of this election with more than a few kind words about Sean.  Governor Romney still has very high favorable ratings among independent voters here in MA; he is extremely charismatic and was received very warmly.  This event was in stark contrast to the democrat rally we snuck into on Saturday where Barney Frank called in former governor Mike Dukakis to rally his handful of supporters.

Desperation: Barney Frank Calls In Dukakis To Rally Base

October 30, 2010 - In a last-minute move of desperation,dukakis-tank-717905 Barney Frank called in former governor and presidential-nominee, Michael Dukakis, to help him rally support...amongst his base in the liberal town of Brookline (well, maybe not so liberal anymore).   Finding a Barney Frank event these days is harder to do than one might think. Despite the fact that Frank is truly fighting the reelection campaign of his life to republican challenger Sean Bielat, he's staying peculiarly quiet and randomly popping up at small events amongst democrats.  Ever since we organize a counter-rally to protest former President Bill Clinton's visit to stump for Frank, Barney has avoided publicly announcing his campaign events, choosing to instead attend events with other (more popular?)  candidates.

In lieu of earning votes the ol' fashioned way (ie shaking hands and buying people an appetizer or two) Barney has relied solely on the funds of last-minute panic-driven donations from fat-cat and progressive PACs, with the promise of more pork to come.

We finally tracked the elusive congressman down when we went undercover at an early morning democrat GOTV (get out the vote) rally in Brookline, MA.  It gave an interesting perspective to be amongst the most "energized" of the democrat base, to hear what liberals have to say when they think no one is listening.  Imagine our surprise when it was just more of the same!  This could have simply been called a "Blame Bush" rally.  The only refreshing aspect was the Dukakis angle, which meant that, for a change, George Bush Sr. (and even Reagan) shared some of the blame.  Frank, on the other hand, stuck to the current talking points of a typical progressive: lashing out at Bush, the Republicans and the Tea Party.

Mike Dukakis Blaming Bushes:

Barney Frank Blaming Bush, Republicans & Tea Party:

So, there you have it.  The Saturday before election day and that's the best Barney Frank could do.  No rolling rallies, no big campaign events or star-studded endorsements.   All Frank could muster was a "Blame Bush Fiesta" in the last liberal stronghold in his district; commiserating with past and future losers; looking backwards at events in their lives that were other people's fault.

On a lighter note, James Ready seems to be getting really annoyed at seeing us crash every Barney Frank event we can find.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the district...

Barney Frank Endorsed by 1992 "GOP" Challenger (Insert Cricket Sound)

October 29, 2010 - Today Barney Frank announcedbarney-frank that he has been endorsed by his "Republican" challenger from the 1992 election cycle Edward McCormick, III.  We actually think this is a good sign for Frank's current challenger Sean Bielat.  With only 3 full days until election day, Barney Frank is all but out of time to release an endorsement or other news that would help his struggling reelection campaign.  We wish we could tell you more about Edward McCormick but, unfortunately, we were both in grade school during the '92 election cycle and as a google search will tell you that was apparently the last time McCormick has been relevant.   What little we do know about McCormick doesn't boad well for his credibility as the voice of "moderate" republicans.  The last person to be graced with his endorsement was our current Governor Deval Patrick.  Patrick will go down in history here in MA as the only governor we've had who's negatives are second only to the New York Yankees.

For those that aren't lucky enough to live in or around Frank's district it's hard to convey the energy and groundswell of support that is taking form in this election.  Last night Cook announced that the Massachusetts' 4th congressional district only "Leans Democrat", an upgrade from his previous rating of "likely Democrat".  This story broke on the heels of our leaked internal memo from the Bielat campaign showing Sean in a statistical dead head with Frank.

As surprising as the McCormick endorsement is for the sheer irrelevance factor, this actually makes a tiny bit of sense.  Even in his cozy gerrymandered district which has protected him for the past 30 years, Frank has become somewhat of a social pariah.  The last time Barney held a joint event, with our governor Deval Patrick, they were both greeted with a giant dancing dinosaur (you can't make this stuff up).

Jewish Group: Barney Frank Dangerous for Israel

H/T Ann Greene / Bob Schneider

October 27, 2010 Brookline, MA-We stopped in at a IMG_4074candidate event last night in Brookline held by the Republican Jewish Coalition and, much to our surprise, the room was packed! The venue was so filled, they had to run out to add more chairs-in BARNEY FRANK'S district. The night highlighted many issues including unemployment, healthcare, and the nation's debt, but most prominently: Israel. Below is the letter that was handed out to attendees and, to Barney Frank, it is nothing short of damning:

"Dear (MA-04 voter):

Whatever reasons you have had to support Barney Frank and Democrats in the past, the world has changed, and the Jewish community faces threats comparable to the threats of the 1930s. Polls show that Republicans are far more supportive to Israel than Democrats.

Barney Frank has not acted to address threats to Israel and the Jewish community nor has he sounded the alarm. The assumption that because Barney Frank is Jewish and a Democrat he will fill the role of our advocate is rebutted by his silence and inaction. He blindly followed President Obama's agenda, which places Israel at existential risk. While President Obama mouths support for Israel, he fails to support by words or deeds. Obama focuses on the construction of apartments, while Israelis are murdered and while Iran forges ahead with its nuclear program and arms its proxies. Abbas refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist.

Reading the history of European Jewry from 1933 to 1945, we are filled with an immense sadness at the failed attempts of Jews to flee their persecutors and of their lack of comprehension that their fellow citizens would try to kill them all. In spite of the supposed sensitivity of Jews to anti-Jewish political winds, millions failed to act on both sides of the Atlantic in the face of express statements of genocidal intentions.

Knowing what we do today, we wish that American Jews had done far more in the 1930s to identify the peril, sound the alarm, and attempt to rally support from our allies. The time has come again.

We will not be silent or inactive. Sean Bielat, US Marine and businessman, is the Republican candidate for the Fourth District. He appreciates the dangers to Israel and knows that America must act to
protect the US and its democratic allies. Visit www.seanbielat.org and make an unbiased decision. I did and I'm voting for Sean. Please join me.

Please read Daniel Pipes' article (below). You have the power to affect the make-up of Congress with your vote."

Memo Leak: Barney Frank Challenger Within Margin of Error

October 27, 2010 -  We obtained a Bielat campaign internal memo on their polling from last week showing the race is a statistical dead-heat against incumbent Congressman Barney Frank.  The memo, sent from an anonymous source,  illustrates and echoes only what we've been hearing and seeing on the ground.  While Sean Bielat's number of supporters seem to be increasing at every event, Barney Frank's supporters are all but non-existent.
