#10 Patriots Most Wanted: Waters & Leahy

We present to you our non-official "Top 10 Most Wanted" based on responses we've received from our readers; #1 being the worst offender in their opinion. This November will be pivotal and historic. While no incumbent should go unweeded, these notorious constitutional-offenders (and, in some cases, criminals) are worthy of national attention.

waters_acornWho:    Maxine Waters
What:   US House of Representatives
Where: 35th Congressional District, California
When:  Since 1991
Why:
This 10-term incumbent sits on the House Committee on Financial Services despite the fact that she revealed she is completely unaware of the difference between the Federal Reserve 'discount rate' and 'federal funds rate'.  She also got caught lying through her teeth about accepting campaign donations from Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac on Real Time with Bill Maher.  Waters has also made it on the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington's (CREW) Top 15 Most Corrupt Members of Congress list 3 times now.

Patrick_LeahyWho:    Patrick Leahy
What:   US Senate
Where: Vermont
When:  Since 1975
Why:
Senator Leahy led the charge to investigate and prosecute both George Bush and Dick Cheney as well EVERY member of their administration.  The Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Leahy also intentionally misquoted then Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor when he asked her, "You said that, quote, you 'would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would reach wise decisions.'"  This was of course his attempt to rewrite history and quelch a controversy that stemmed from a 2001 speech were Sotomoyor said, "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."
