Rarely do we sing the praises of Speaker Boehner, but when the White House announced today that President Obama wished to address a joint session of Congress on September 7th (the same night as the GOP Presidential Debate at the Reagan Library), we were expecting the speaker to cave in to the President’s wishes.
His official response to the White House, seen below, is not what we expected and is certainly more polite than than the average American would have been. Reading the writing on the wall, Obama has agreed to Boehner’s proposal and has rescheduled his address to Congress for September 8th.
It’s worth noting this puts Obama’s address to Congress in direct competition with the first regular season NFL game. It’s doubtful that Obama will ask the commissioner to reschedule the game.
